Jeanne Cilliers is an associate professor at the Department of Economic History, Lund University. Her research lies at the intersection between economic history and historical demography, with a focus on Africa and aims to understand the interplay between population dynamics and socioeconomic development in former colonial societies. Her expertise is working with large historical demographic databases. She currently divides her time between two projects: The origins of health inequalities in Sub-Saharan Africa, 1900-1960 and The establishment, growth and legacy of a settler colony: Quantitative panel studies of the political economy of Cape Colony.
