Colonialism on the Cheap: The French Empire 1830-1962
Sandrine Mesplé-Somps is Senior Researcher at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD) and University Paris Dauphine-PSL. Her research interests are economic history, migration economics, and poverty and inequality in Africa. Her recent research focuses on understanding the state building process in former colonized countries and its consequences for contemporaneous state capacity and the effects of migration on political and social opinions and attitudes.
